deutsch < We were surprised by the attention paid – not solely by designers – to the 50th anniversary of the Helvetica font. That a visual product of everyday life can enter the general con­scious­ness to such an extent must surely fascinate everyone who deals with the visible products of our culture and the sensations of the ordinary.

We can ignore our 25th anniversary but wish to record the following here: since 1983 this publishing house has dealt with themes of visual culture and has sought out works and their authors who are of contemporary importance and pursue a lasting intention. Encouraged by the response that our books have received and by our many friends throughout the world we will continue to discover and document extraordinary achievements in art, design and architecture. Additionally, we see the publishing company increasingly as an instrument for recording the state and the development of society, and for posing questions that go beyond the visible.
